I opened up my macbook 1,1 (read: old) and replaced the cpu fan a while back. It turns out that it wasn't the fan but the electronics that power the fan that was broken. The prior owner had spilled water on it that damaged the battery and ended up with acid on the board (which is why we got it so cheap in the first place). Anyway, nice to see that despite being a Mac user you recognize that YOU own the computer, not Apple. :P Thanks for this Cory!
